Where to find gemstones in Victoria

Bucket years back I was taken for a drive up into the hills near Elerado where they had dug a shaft to get at the amethyst.  Had been a lease that had since been filled in and reclaimed.  Was still a few small amethyst on the ground.  Sadly all gone at that spot.

After reading the book I have decided to pay a trip soon to some of the locations. Will also look into Mollisons creek. Any more information would be great, but don't reveal your secret locations of course

I was up scratching around the amethyst Eldorado location early last year. Unfortunately the powers of be have deliberately placed large tree logs across the tracks going to these places and have also placed warning signs notifying you will be fined if you still drive or ride around the barriers. Nothing saying you can't walk in. Though yes the pickings have become sparse. It's still fun trying!
