CSSDOP, great to hear from you, and yes I would love to get some more information on these machines. I have managed to work out a bit but to see or even possess a copy of a manual would be awesome.

I have been able to discover that there are several different models of cam profiles, I only have #4, none of the others, I do have the skills to make them though if I can discover the patterns. The items I am at a loss about are the rotating cams that mount on the end of the drive shaft, how they engage I can see, but their shape I know nothing about, let alone how they work in with the operation of the machine. I am assuming part of the cyclic drive system has to be disengaged.

So any information would be of immense value, thank you.

Looking at the date of the last post makes one realise how long this has taken! In-between a few renovations and faceting for clients I've finally finished the rebuild. During the process I came to really understand the machine and the genius who designed it. It is a remarkable piece of old school engineering and beautifully crafted without the use of the modern cad machines.

I made a couple of simple little modifications, like a plug and socket for connecting the speed control foot pedal and a better water system than the old bent copper pipe. So from a grubby partially seized "what is it??" when I first saw it in the back of a garage surrounded by buckets of boulder opal, it is now a fully functioning cab cutter. Everything has been done, sandblasting, epoxy paint, re-plating, bearings, seals, the lot and a lot of hours.

All there is to be done now it to find someone to buy it as I don't think I'll have the use for it so it will spend a lot of time sitting under a dust sheet, which would be a real shame.

No mate, driving it is very simple and straight forward, just dop up a piece of rock, start her rolling and you'll have a roughed cab in no time.
