What is it?

Help please,
I am trying to identify a mineral, it occurs with quartz outcrop in clay (kaolin?), is greenish-black in appearance. Under a magnifier it appears crystalline. It won't leave a mark on the quartz except for a white streak.
It comes from mid-north area in SA , also occurring in same area is some sort of iron mineral.

A picture would definitely help along with a clearer location.  Mid north SA is still a lot of geology.
Have you tried Mindat for an identification?

I'd say it's one of the iron oxide family. Limonite/goethite, perhaps.
