Yep Mangomick, pudding stone aka galaxy stone. Its a bit soft for the lap but comes up good if taking care. I ended up gluing it to a pvc slice. Pity about Laurie and Sheryl no longer running the place those were the best times I had up there..

Yeah tripzs
safari camp open.Laurie no longer managing it though. He lives in Forsyth but I believe a nephew of his is running it. When we were there a mate of the Nephew was supposed to be managing it but he had to take off for a couple of days so a camper from W.A was taking the camping fees and lighting the donkey burner. $7p/p for a site and hot showers fairly reasonable. Flanagans Hill is open if you can find a hole but wall of pain at the bottom of Flanagans hill is closed supposedly by the mining warden although the sign isn't well positioned and doesn't actually say who the sign is authorised by. Apparently some one hurt his foot trying to get agate out of basalt and also late one night campers heard big bang and large piece of basalt from the wall fell.

Both signs the warden had put up are badly positioned and the hole with the boulder over it on the right hand side of Flannagans should have been taped off so people do not think the whole area is banned.

A bit hard getting Frank a 85 year old to look after the Safari camp. :o

Luckily the wall fell during the night last year and not during the day or a number of campers at the safari camp could have got injured.

Craig is supposed to be running the Safari camp and Zorran is his mate. Watch out if he is driving the other way on the track as he is fast and erratic.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Jimnyjerry
I  met Frank and Reenie 5 years ago when we were out there when laurie took us out to the new pink patch down the springs road.
Frank actually offered to look after it for a few days when Zorran had to take off. Pretty sure Frank said he was only 81 so he isn't going to like you putting  an extra 4 years on him  ;D . Hope I'm in as good a shape as him at 80 although he wasn't able to dig because of an inflammed elbow that was giving him trouble. He gets around though.Frank and his Mrs were taking off the day after us so I hope Zorran made it back. I like safari camp,  it has a bit of character about it.

Oops about the age. My dad is 85 so probably where I got the number. Yes Frank is very good for his age.

Safari camp has character but I have never stayed there.  I tend to like lots of empty space around me.  :)

Mangomick when did you get to Agate Ck?  Presume you stayed at the Safari camp.

I left on Thursday 28 May. The heat was wearing me out. Prefer it up there when it goes from 25 to -4 at night.

So I missed you by 3 weeks.  :(

And we missed you by 1 1/2 weeks. Should may be have not gone at all. Nearly hit a horse at Chinchilla the first night heading to the weir. Arrived on 13th and only had 3 days orientating and specking before I had a medical condition that had me in Cairns Base for a week. We managed a couple of days with friends at O'Briens Ck on the way home. Hopefully more tests will sort the med cond out and we can get on with more fossicking. At least we achieved the objectives of finding agate and a few topaz although both are getting harder to find.
The Chinese were still there, no tapes visible on Flanagans but big holes with digging gear in them.
Life is not all about the final destination, but the journey taken.

Finally got to take pics of my topaz from O'Briens Ck.

Specked 1839 carats of topaz on the first day along with an 10 carat aquamarine and some more topaz over a few days before I got sick (self inflicted).

Grand total for all the topaz was 2188 carats  ;D
