Hey all,
Another newbie here, my name is Ash and im from Armidale.
My partner (Danni) and I have been keen metal detectorists for several years now, mainly targeting pre-1900 relics.
Recently we have started gold panning and fossicking as well, very little to show for our efforts but its been fun all the same. ;)
We are planning a 4 day trip around the New England area fossicking, detecting and gold prospecting in October, cant wait.
Look forward to chatting to you all anyway, great site.

If you're in Glen Innes the week before the October long weekend, I'll in there. Piano accordion and flamenco outfit optional.
-
G'day Ash. I've enjoyed your contributions to the AMDRH Forum.
I hope you get a lot of pleasure (even profit) from fossicking. If you haven't already done so, check out my blog and YouTube channels - there is a lot of information there which you might find useful.

Haha.. Unfortunately I will miss that scene, we are planning to be there Saturday and Sunday before the long weekend.
Thanks John, ah yeah haven't been on the detecting site for a long time!
Yes I've already watched a few of your videos, great stuff!
I actually sent you a message via YouTube as well, mainly to pick your brains about spots we might visit around this area. (Before I realised this was the place to be! :) )
-
I hope I gave you the right info!
-
No reply! Lol ;D
I realised afterwards that you had moved from the region, so I wasn't too devastated.
Honestly we are getting a little disheartened trying to plan the trip to the glen innes area, all of the spots I have been able to find information on are either closed, flogged out (by all reports) or pay to dig.
Dunno...after suggestions and advice. beers beers

Flogged or not, it's still great to get out doors and in a creek... Welcome to Alf! Happy to meet on the field if you happen to be in the glen area...
If you haven't already done so, you can check out my blog also...link below... ;)

Ash welcome to ALF. :)
Weekend before the long weekend would be 26-7 September? Calxoddity and I will be up Glen Innes way then, arriving Saturday afternoon. Probably easier to contact Calx as I will be staying out at Tingha the first couple of nights.
Only place I can think of that you may be able to use the Wallybanker for gold would be out at Kookabookra but that would be moving a lot of sand in the river for a few specks and only if the river is low. Yes I am also on PA and AMDRH forums :)
You will find the detector for coins and relics and a set of sieves, shovels and yabbie pump for sapphires and zircons most useful items to take and use.
For sapphire chasing try Billabong Blue, a paid dig but good. Unfortunately can only use sieves there.
