I found and faceted a yellow sapphire at the willows in early 70's and it became my wife's engagement ring. We had it set by a travelling jeweller at the van park there.

I made an engagement ring for my wife using a tanzanite stone I had got in Kenya. She only wears it occasionally which may be just as well as although it is a beautiful stone (See the adjacent Aussie Sapphire post: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/25/small-scale-miner-finds-biggest-tanzanite-gems-in-history-worth-33m?fbclid=IwAR37HBIi2hmnkG3TSK8S8Z5k8NwjnY46AKDrOPB1gn0cG50hJybS7cVlcZ0 (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/25/small-scale-miner-finds-biggest-tanzanite-gems-in-history-worth-33m?fbclid=IwAR37HBIi2hmnkG3TSK8S8Z5k8NwjnY46AKDrOPB1gn0cG50hJybS7cVlcZ0) ) it is a relatively soft stone so probably sapphire is a better bet for durability and everyday wear as an engagement ring.

Mine was an illusion setting, more silver than diamond - that was 46 years ago - frightening really. In that time I could have been imprisoned for committing around 3 murders, 4 rapes and a heap of bank robberies and I'd be out by now.
