Title: Faceting vs Lawn Bowling
Post by: Moth on October 18, 2020, 11:13:09 AM
Bit off topic but WTF. How many of you are also Lawn Bowlers?
I am reasonably new at the sport but now play at around Division 3 Pennant, I have noticed my depth perception and ability to judge weight are 'put off' if I bowl after I have done some faceting earlier in the day - think it must be the difference between concentrating on macro judging, then moving out to judge distances etc on the larger scale.  Just wondering if it is just me.

Hey moth
You can blame many things for you form slumps but I am not sure faceting is one of them.  The elusive art of consistency confounds us all. Perhaps some further coaching lessons, watching good players etc may help.  The best thing I found was a rigid pre shot routine.  Doing the same thing every time before bowling.  Is it roger federer who bounces the ball five times every time before serving.  Not four or six the same thing every time. This helps a lot with consistent bowling but there always those many days that we have and would like to forget.  Good luck

Thanks, you are probably right but I find I bowl so much better if I haven't been cutting pre game - maybe just a concentration thing though.

Try bowling the first two balls overarm and see if helps just to loosen up a bit.

Did that Steve but the old shiela in the long white dress couldn't handle a bouncer
