Title: Unknown Faceting Machine

I have recently been given a faceting machine to start learning on however I am unsure as to the brand. It appears to be an older machine, runs well with some minor home modifications.
Can anyone give me any hints as to the brand. The top of the mast has a red knob on it with the A inside a M.

Ive also attached a picture of the bottom of the master lap that is stuck. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove it so I can clean out underneath.

Post by: Pete49 on January 17, 2021, 02:14:13 PM: Not sure on the make. I was leaning towards an early gem master but the initials MA put me off too. I have a feeling that I have seen that style of facet machine years ago a Nth Qld gemfield being used by an old bloke and doing fine work with it on topaz.
Try soaking the master lap in a bucket of diesel if you can get the entire shaft off after removing the bottom pulley or squirt some Inox where it attaches to the shaft. May take awhile. Other idea would be to see if you can get it pressed off.

Im not sure of this particular machines history other than it came from someone in the Gemfields in Qld about 10-15years ago and has sat on a shelf since (only came to me last week). Barely used. Motors quiet and runs well. Looking at it though, it looks like it may have been modified/repaired over the years (ie. home repairs) so it could be any brand and google image search is only bringing up later models.

Post by: Rusted on January 18, 2021, 12:18:12 PM: The mast and head could be very early Robilt. The rest of the machine looks home made. The lettering on the red knob I don't think is significant.
