Yea i got a few small pieces from right down in the Entire valley but only one cutter Orange on one end going into red but only fairly small,I wouldnt say it was a worth while trip down there for the miles driven.

Only thing I heard about the Alice Amethest is that it is small crystals,Ive never been but I cant say it would be that good If not many people go

Yes it is prehnite and my apatite is gone too and the amethyst is not fun to tumble as it has to go for much loger on the fine stages and has lots of pits

looks like you need smaller media-stones in with it ,or more of them I use a handfull of clean saw dust in with it and a table spoon of borax as well.This makes them easier to clean between stages and distributes the grit better -seems to work well for me.

I think garnet would be ok but the clearer stones and harder ones such as topaz could be better as they take a little more of the overcut factor out of it and require a your eye to see the facets with the reflection back at you -in the final stages which is good practise anyone else agree im just going off when i learnt
