Hi Jerry
Sorry to hear that you wern't able to get out there for awhile, I know how that feels.
We'll be at O'briens Ck (hopefully) on the 19th July and spend a few weeks up there, would be great to catch up if you're up there at the same time. We're going to stop at Lightning Ridge on the way back for about a week, if you're interested.
Sorry you would miss me by 10 days as I will be back home by then.  :(

too many people have been driving there vehicles up onto the active dumps and getting in the way of dump trucks so the rules about the dumps are being enforced now see

It's great to hear from you guy's, are you both still fossicking?
The second aqua I find is yours, I've promised the first one to my grand daughter who wants to come fossicking.

 Hi Claude,
Have not done any fossicking since middle of 2019.  It has taken me a long while to recover from last year.

Starting up again in a months time if the waters subside for my trip up to Agate Ck . ;D
Will have to look out for you if I stop at O'Briens on my way home in July.
 beers Jerry

Sad to hear of the end of ALF.  Andrew, Leah it has been a great time on site with all the fellow fossickers and thank you for providing it.  beers Jerry

Are Blackberry's a problem in the area?
Not in the area I used to go in if one was spotted it was removed, Willow trees however are a problem.
In a different section of the forest with Brisbane Valley Ck it was over run with brambles and blackberry bushes.

Interesting thing is there is no mention of fossicking causing a problem in any of the articles in local papers.

see page 19 of the National plan
The effefts of the plan seem to also include farming water use and forestry.

In NSW it is a 10 year plan

Sorry got wound up  :-[

Used to sieve a Native Dog donkeys years ago, a pleasant lazy spot that always looked good.

Noticed the frogs and other wild life and kept clear of them. Could certainy hear the frogs at night while you tried to sleep.

Only been back once for a look since the high bankers hit the area (on line videos attracted too many diggers) and the area was opened again after logging finished.
Now highbankers are banned state wide affects of fossicking are greatly reduced.
Did not stay or walkabout long as brown snakes were getting active.

Sad to see another area lost. From reading the reports it will not be the last  :'(

Native Dog Ck in Essington SF near Oberon closed to fossicking
Seems they found some booroolong frogs

Road in from Boggabri has been blocked by mine rail transport. Only possible way in is from the NE via Maules Creek on the Leard State Forest Rd and even then you would need prior permission from the mine to traverse the road through there mining lease. Road could have haulage vehicles on it. So sorry the long answer is fossicking site cannot be accessed. As to the turn off that heads up to the fossicking area being still there and driveable I have no idea  :(
