Trip Talk / Darwin Parking

Are there any ALFers in Darwin with a bit of land and maybe a power point to spare. We need to fly back to Brisvegas from Darwin towards the end of July and back in early August and need a home for our car and camper.

General Discussion / Where the bloody hell are ya??

(Apologies to Lara Bingle) I would like to see ALL ALFers update their profile to include their location. I believe this would facilitate more and easier interaction between ALF members when they are travelling to and fro.
With Newbies it would make it more accurate to direct them to nearby ALFers or lapidary clubs.
Leah, perhaps this could be a prerequisite when newbies join?

Forum Announcements & Rules / The Big Lap (of Oz)

Hi All, the Leader of the Opposition (LOTO) and I are heading off just after Easter on a year long trip around our wide brown land.
The trip will include sight seeing, adventure, relaxing and last but by no means least, fossicking and prospecting.
It will be in 3 legs, the first to Darwin by late July, fly back to Brisvegas and to NZ with friends, then to Perth by Xmas and fly to Brooklyn to see family and lastly to home about next Easter??
We would welcome any suggestions of special things to see/do or places to camp and any  locations/contacts for gems/minerals (grid references to the nearest metre please, LOL).
As this is not a travel forum maybe travel suggestions be sent PM and leave lapidary items on this forum for the rest of the ALFers to view.
Our first leg to Darwin is via Boulia or Mt Isa to Mud Tank etc. then to Alice, Uluru, Kings then make our way up to Darwin.
I would also like to catch up with some ALFers to put a face to the name, eg. Fullerton (Mt Isa?).
If anyone is planning a similar trip then please contact us.

How to post Pictures & other FAQ / Lightning Ridge

The Treasurer and I are heading to the Simpson Desert http://aussielapidaryforum.com/forum/Smileys/classic/hot.gif next week. On the way back we are going through Camerons Corner and on to Lightning Ridge for a couple of days. Does anyone have any tips or contacts for the Ridge while we are there. I've had a look at a couple of previous posts on this site. Thanks in advance.

Trip Talk / USA Contacts

Hi All,
The wife and I are heading over to New York late Sep for our daughters wedding. We intend to spend a bit of time fossicking in the Far North East USA and Lake Superior in particular (for agates). Does anyone have any good contacts over there or first hand info that may assist us.
