Variable Speed Trim Saw
« on: August 10, 2014, 08:11:03 PM »
Hi I just finished making my first trim saw.  It doesn't look very but it works OK.

I bought an 1/2" arbour from the hardware and a scon tray from KMart.  Total cost under $15. An empty ice cream container iforms the resovior.  It worked a treat, but needs a baffle under the tray to deflect the water flicking off the blade back into the resevior.

One day I'll get around to buying a real one.

Not on your nelly! That's what we have silicon carbide wheels for.  They do a much better job of putting in fractures. beers

Fullerton, re too clean.  Yes, but I had cleaned and dried it after testing.  It went through a quartz crystal like a knife through butter and no internal sparks to indicate it was running dry or too fast.

Used iced water from the beer fridge, it was handy. But the splash guard was a little low and I wasn't wearing an apron.
