Hi,
Not sure if it's possible but can the title of the picture be shown in the gallery instead of some of the other info that's displayed?  When we get lots of pics in there I think it will get hard to find the one your interested in without the title?  Thanks.

Just took a look and there is no setting that can just turn on the title so will have to dig into the code - I'll see what I can do.

I'll try to do this because I agree with what you're saying about being able to look through a large group of photos.  In the meantime, I suggest that people adding images make use of the photo description and keywords (feel free to use plenty) as the search function does work pretty well to bring photos up but this is less useful if the keywords are not there to work with.

That search option works really well ... tried Torrington & got all the related pics. When I post pics I'll try to remember to include any relevant words like the location, type of gem etc.

Just installed a new gallery which seems to have a few more features - see how you like this one:

Same button on the top menu but it has moved to the left one space.

I think I have set all the permissions correctly but please make sure that you can see the Gallery and the Random Image block on the left.

Normal members should be able to upload pictures and add comments (both actions need approval before displaying) - "regulars" should have auto approval for both adding pictures and comments.  Guests can view images but cannot comment or rate items.

Any glitches, just let me know and I'll look at it.

Hi Leah/Andrew,
    Just noticed the 'My Album' feature on the gallery toolbar and wondered does this mean we can put photos in our own album  . Why, I can see the gemstone gallery becoming unmanageable if half dozen members post 20 gemstone photos each and then there is the photos of old fossickers doing fossicking things, and smokey quartz crystals from every quartz vein in the country . I don't want to crowd other members out of the general Gallery.A personal  album might solve this problem.

Yes - absolutely Ted.

The software is designed to do this and it is recommended for those who have lots of photos.  Ones that have been uploaded already can be moved any time so dont worry about that either.

I think (??) that the "Regulars" have permission to create their own albums without them needing to be approved by a moderator.  Can you give this a try for me - if you cant see how to do it, it may be that I have not quite got the permissions right so just get back to me and I'll check into it.

Just remember, that when you post photos, feel free to add lots of keywords and description so that the search function will find relevant photos wherever they are stored.

I'm a big fan of "Search" as this lets me be a bit disorganised and still get away with it.

Just following this thread with interest. I have just created an album to put all my pictures in, except the you tube videos.

How do I move my photos into this album? Or do I have to delete them and reupload into the album?

 There's quick and there's Deb I have managed to creat a folder and upload a photo but it states it is pending approval, would have picked a better photo if I knew that. .

Hi Ted,

All my recent photos have said pending approval and there is a button at the bottom section of your uploaded photo etc that says approve, you just press that approval link, it also lets you unapprove also.

Deb is right.

The "Regulars" have the ability to approve their own submissions.  So uploading is really a two step process where you submit the image and then hit the approve button.

Normal members do not have the ability to approve their own images so they do not see that approve button - they have to wait for an admin or moderator to do it for them.  You guys can do it straight away though.  You'll see a pink bar along the top to let you know that an image needs approving.

The old gallery software did the approval automatically but this one has more features so I figured people wouldnt mind having to click an extra button.

DEB - I'm still working on your question.  I thought it was a simple process to move images but havent worked it out.  Give me a bit of time and I'll let you know what the process is.

I am sure you will figure it out and if it can't be done well i'll just do it the old way, except the pictures in use in the posts, but the rest shouldn't be to hard to delete and upload into the album.
