An avatar is a small image or photograph which is linked to your membership profile. These are displayed when people view your publicly available profile information (some information you may choose to keep private) and in the box on the left of any message that you post on the boards.
Avatars are used by members to express something about themselves – the image can be anything you want as long as it is meaningful to you.
You can choose from one of the avatars provided, link to a file elsewhere on the internet or upload one of your own images. Images should be small (suggest around 80 to 100 pixels square) and in one of the popular formats (gif, jpg, png).
You may choose or change your avatar at any time. Simply go to your profile and select "Forum Profile Information" which is the second option in the Modify Profile menu box. You will see three options - the first is to choose an existing image from the folders stored on our server (select a folder to browse), the second is to provide a link to an image that already exists elsewhere on the internet, or thirdly, you can upload a file from your own computer.
Save your changes and your new avatar will now display on the summary page of your profile and next to any messages you post.
