fix it or buy a new one
« on: January 19, 2011, 02:40:44 PM »
Just fitted a new motor to the tumbler and we are rocking and rolling again. After 47 years the motor gave out. I was fortunate to find a supplier who took the time to measure up the old motor and order me one with the same spindle size for the small pulley. Cost a bit, but cheaper than a new machine and only uses 160 watts.  Looking forward to sodalite, prase, amethyst, agate and few jelly bean quartz.

 Good work Blocker,
we are all keen to save costs where you can,if the machine is basically still good it just makes sense :).
If you have the supplier details feel free to post them as it may help other members.
We have over 80 Motors in stock on the shelves in the warehouse but still cant supply all types >:(

Cheers Andrew

You did not get a 60Hz motor, by any chance?

The new motor would not run continuously - so it's gone back.  Fix it or buy a new one? probably should buy a new one!!

Bought a new one - some things get a bit beyond repair or replacement.

The new one will be an upgrade, so thats good!
