Upload problems
« on: September 03, 2011, 09:01:56 PM »
Hi guys,
I was trying to upload a pic of my first stone and kept on getting a message saying that the upload folder is full. The size of the file is 395kb so it falls within the required size. Could someone please help me regarding this prob.
Cheers

Hey Digger, Leah should be able to sort it for you. Not sure about 2moro, being THAT day, but maybe.
We have had intermittent probs with that lately but it's soon sorted.

Sorry about that - the attachments folder was full.  This was reported to me a couple of weeks ago but I had not got around to enlarging it.

You should be able to attach a file to your message now.

BUT - can I encourage you to upload it to the media gallery instead here:

http://aussiesapphire.com.au/forum/index.php?action=media

The way the forum software works, there is a limit on the total size of the attachments folder - I have already enlarged it a few times.  But there is no limit on how many files can be uploaded to the gallery.  Then you can link your image to your message using the code provided (use the BBC code snipped - the other 2 codes snippets are so you can link to the image in other places on the web).  This way the image is also in the gallery for people to comment on, rotate through the random image box on left, etc as well as being in the message.

New members need to have their images/comments approved by a moderator but I have just upgraded you to "Regulars" status so they will be approved automatically.

cheers

Hi Drifter - can you give it another try?

I enlarged the folder size but I may have got confused with kilobytes and megabytes.

If you dont do any good, email it to me and I'll post it for you as direct link.

cheers

NOTE FROM ADMIN:  Have just emptied out some of the very old files in the ATTACHMENTS folder so uploads should now work.

However, I would encourage people to use the media gallery instead when posting images as this offers many more features - you can put a thumbnail of your image in any message post by using the BBC embed code on the image page.

You may find that on some very old message threads, if files were attached, these may now not be there but the folder was just getting way too full and I thought it better to do a cull rather than simply enlarge on this occasion.

Avatars are also saved in the Attachments folder so if you have wanted to upload a custom avatar for your profile and have not been able to recently, please try again now.

cheers
Leah

I have one member report that they are unable to upload additional pictures to a new album they have created. I have been able to add another two to the album but for some reason, they are unable to do so.

I am currently working on the issue but would appreciate it if anyone else is having similar problems, could you please let me know.

thanks
