I would have thought getting within 10ct would be good enough for a prize too!  I just happened to be 9.8ct off the pace.

Apparently everyone who cuts has to make at least one faceted door knob in their life time.... Ironically it might take a life time to cut....!!!  :D

Yes I've seen some big knobs.
I have posed the question before elsewhere about how big one can go comfortably on particular sized laps (6 & 8")but no one seems able to handle the question.
Have seen those super sized polished crystals which do require specially made laps but was looking at the normal facet machine sizes.
The longest facet I've cut so far has been 3 cm on a 6".

    Congrats. to Mehoose for the win, and I thank you for the consideration of including us [Carol and I] in the contest. We don't facet, or do gemmy sorts of things, primarily quartz mtls. being our long suit, but we have enjoyed greatly following this contest thru; fun. I have been asked to post some of our project things, and will as soon as I can figure out a workable light box so as to get rid of the bright spot.
