We've just had a week at Glen Innes-days were beautiful but the nights were coolish-coldest -3c, warmest .5c.
Re leeches-the best repellent is to smear your submerged parts with Vicks Vapour Rub. Haven't been attacked since I started using it-does wonders for the leeches sinuses as well.

Hi all,
Warming up now - the fire's been let go out in the office for the first time this weekend :D
I love and hate wood fires ;D

The Aussie Sapphire Crew always try and sneak away for a week in the Easter and September
School Hols - this year we are sneaking the kids out of school a couple of days early to get Back in time for Shipping on Friday the 9th and to catch up with the ALF Gang on Saturday the 10th???

Hows about this for a get-together idea for the 10th?:
The Saturday Night Annual ALF Dinner :o

As locals we suggest the Glen Innes Bowling Club - you guessed it Chinese ;D
But the Food is ALWAYS GOOD with Club prices for drinks and room for us all to have a good Chat without been put in GAOL for annoying the other patrons  8)

It's only two blocks further walk than the RSL which it always so busy that it's hard to do a group.

Our offer is a Chinese smorgasboard for $10 per head - Aussie Sapphire/ALF will pay the other half.  Buy your own drinks - any special orders or Australian meals paid by the orderer but I guarantee the Chinese food will be excellent.

Any takers ?????   We need 30 people to get the smorgasboard, we can chase up about 8 (family - dont have any friends :'( ) so only need about 20 ALF'ers but of course, the more the merrier.

If you like this idea, we need to book ahead so need confirmation of those who can attend. Record your thoughts here so we can get a consensus and some numbers..

Any ideas, happy to go along with the gang ?

Andrew,
  Count me in!

Down here in Wollongong it's become summer all of a sudden - how's the water situation up your way?

Regards,
Shane

First cab off the rank.
It is very warm up this way but plenty of water - perfect fossicking weather.

cheers

We would love to, but we're leaving for the gold coast on Saturday!

We're leaving Canberra Saturday the 3rd and staying at Dave’s dads house that night in port Macquarie. On Sunday we're travelling via Tamworth to stay at Barraba sunday/monday night to do some gold detecting. Then its onto Glen innes via tingha for some quartz. We'll stay at glen innes tuesday - friday night. Then we're staying at tweed heads for 5 nights  ;D ;D
Dave and I had to compromise, he likes detecting and I love my fossicking, first part of the holiday is for me, and dave can detect the gold coast beaches the second half...... while I go shopping! Lol

 beers

Andrew,
  Count me in too! :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

What is this about wearing headwear?

So many to choose from and none of them pink.

Probably my Isle of Skye.

As for vix-vapour rub on all submerged regions to stop leeches,  :o no way, there is pain and then there is PAIN.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Just looking through some posts and picture and looks like we will be eating well during this trip

Along with the chinese, young Angus is supplying yabbies and trout, Moonshadow is supplying turkey and young goat meat, and I will bring half of bambi along

We can probably do chinese, I'm more partial to thai, but it's more about the company isn't it? So that would be 5 of us.

;) Oh, I'm a *massive* fan of Yum Cha.. and chinese tea houses like at the Kuan Yin in the Valley in Brisbane.. but it can be a bit oily overall otherwise.. Still good when it's good though.
