Gem silica
« on: March 27, 2013, 09:18:58 PM »
Some gem silica from Indonesia I acquired, 464 grams, this material is basically a chalcedony colored by chrysocolla or other blue green copper minerals, will make some awesome carvings and fancy cabs, the choice grade in this gem can bring higher prices than chrysoprase.

An awesome piece Mick, got a specific plan for it?

My mate who owns a copper mine south of Cloncurry is onto a 'seam' thats about that quality ... I saw some of it a couple of weeks ago. His material has some different colours and patterns. He's very excited about it but is still working out how much is there.

Fullerton, I have 4 pieces, this material can bring prices as high as $200 a carat, insane, way higher than chrysoprase, not sure what to do with it yet, just admire its beauty for a few weeks, your friend with the mine is a very lucky sole.
A link to this material.

He thinks so too ... but he has invested over $100,000 into developing it so far. He wants to sell the copper ore plus make some money from lapidary materials. He isn't set up for sales yet. Every now and again some crumbs fall from his table for me to pick up.

Thats a special piece (or 4) you've got so no rush.
