All I do is open the picture using Microsoft Office Picture Manager, which came with the Microsoft package when I bought my computer. Then go into "Picture" from the menu followed by "Resize". On the right is a series of choices. One is "Percentage of Original WidthX Height". I go down to about 25% and save the reduced picture in a separate folder. If it's not down to less than 150KB I reduce it again.

Really recommend Irfanview for this type of thing. It is small and fast!!

http://www.irfanview.com/

You can do all sorts of things to photos but cropping and/or resizing is about as easy as it gets. See image below:

I use gimp for tricky photo editing occasionally but irfanview does the job 95% of the time - can also add text, lines, shapes, etc if you want to annotate an image.

cheers

Thanks Leah

I've managed to downsize one pic & post. Will have to get used to doing it. I'm a bit technologically challenged, so it will need some perseverance on my part.

Hi Leah,
That's a great program but I find that an even easier program is Microsoft Picture Manager.  It doesn't have many features but you can very easily crop, resize & adjust the brightness of pics.  Worth a look.  I use IrfanView if I need to do anything more cleverer.
Regards, Paul
