Home made fossicking Gear
« on: May 05, 2013, 11:05:59 AM »
Hey Rumble, you were asking about cheap fossicking gear, I made this fossicking hoe from scrap I found around my place and at the local tip. I have even got a bit of plough disc left over an am intending on making a couple of finer heads.  Will have some left over, its very hard steel and still have some of my shovel handle left.  Only out lay was for the shovel handle which was about $12.  I've seen these things on sites for up to $70.

That looks a good un Tinker, bet it gets a workout. Plough shares are great  for many things.

Geology Rocks, I really dig it.
My rocks are gneiss, don’t take them for granite.

Yep Chookie, it does take it everywhere with me, better than carrying the big maddock I use to use.  Hows everything with you did you find much at Minerama and have you been out to Mt Shadwell since they started on the new work area.

No I haven't Rumble, but I have a handy father in law who lives six hours drive from my place and am visiting him in July, his pretty handy with the welder, he doesn't know it yet put I'm going to get him to make two more for me a smaller version of the one I already have and another similar to a pick with a narrower blade.
