Latest Wash Layer
« on: August 03, 2013, 07:05:43 PM »
Have come into this depression in the floor where I have been digging over the last couple of days.

It appears that the inclusion on the left edge of the image disrupted the flow and caused a back-eddy. It is about 18-24 inches deeper than the surrounding wash.

I think that the back-eddy has gouged out a hole in front of the inclusion. If you look carefully on the right, you will see where the wash joins the floor which is much higher than the good wash.

A few good stones do far and only just started into it.

The bottom of the image is just some wash that I have pulled down and ready for picking up. So many billies in there I am having trouble getting the jackhammer in there without hitting a rock. Am only just touching the bottom of the area so far.

Fingers crossed.

I started out with nothing
And still have most of it left.

How about every second day. Dig one day. Process the next.  ;)

Building around the camp might have to go on hold for a few days.  ;)

That looks like some hard digging there Bluey!

I remember something similar to that in our old hole at Russian gully, though on a smaller scale. There was a small indentation in the bottom, about six inches wide and deep from memory. It contained the best concentration of good stones we found out there. They just dropped out, one after another. I remember Dad hitting the first one with the pick and smashing it into three pieces. He had seen it but was already committed to the swing - he nearly cried! ;D (still got three decent - though obviously smaller - stones out of it)

Hope you do well out of it.

Cheers
