Marg and I visited the Caboolture Gem show this morning. I bought a chunk of agate while Marg got 3 pieces of boulder opal. It looked to be very similar to last year's EXCEPT, we hope that nothing gets stolen this year.
The weather, started off cold, sunny and cloudless blue sky, but got warmer. There were plenty of people there.

Yep, my wife went sans kids and bought some wonderful opal from Ted H and some great Queensland agate specimens from John N! She said it looked to be a comparatively big show and well run and organised!

"EXCEPT, we hope that nothing gets stolen this year. "

Don't know, saw some guy in a tin can with shackles on and a guy with a shotgun chasing him.  ... but me thinks it had something to do with the Historical Village.  Maybe a bit of fun.

Anyway it was a great day. There were a number of stall holders who we assume were associated with the club as they didn't look like traders and had reasonable prices.

My wife bought a few nice faceted stones to set and I managed to collect some faceting and cabbing rough.

Many thanks to the opal guy with the sign on top of his stall.  He heavily discounted a coffee jar of opal pieces (mostly potch with a few bits of colour scattered in it) to a 13yo lad looking to spend his last $10 on a jar of opal.  The lad's eyes nearly popped out of his head.  If you are on this forum, THANK YOU.

Anyway congratulations Caboolture on a great gem show in a nice setting.

Yours Sincerely
Flash (Gordon)
