Obsidian cut in sydney????

Hi guys,

Very new to this world and not sure where to start!

I have a large chunk of obsidian i have brought home from the top of mount killimanjaro that i would like cut down and turned into an engagement ring for my soon to be (hopefully) fiance.

Just wondering where in sydney i could go to get this done.

And advice at all would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Sephzilla welcome to ALF.  Presume the obsidian is black.  If you cannot see through it all you will have is a facetted black piece of volcanic glass in the ring. Will not be very durable.

If you still want it facetted for the ring, presumably for sentimental reasons check with the local lapidary clubs for a facetor. http://gemlapidarycouncilnsw.org.au/clubs/
