Hi Rockgirl, does the Facetor's Guild count as well, if so I'm in that as well as a local club.
What's the Facetor's Guild Bucket ?, we are thinking about getting a machine and starting to cut some of our finds. :)

The Facetors Guild is an organisation that is all about, well, faceting! They have an annual conference with workshops and have a lot of very experienced members.  They produce a very good magazine bi-monthly that has tips, tricks and new designs plus more.

If you would like to learn more, they have a website.

killarney vale (central coast) NSW. I am planning on joining the Ourimbah club this Thursday night, I used to go up to Belmont and do lapidary at Blueribbon gems. Have done some of my own stuff at home too.

Wow.
We have a pretty good spread of clubs but I am most surprised at the independent cutters. I am not sure if I would have been game to buy the gear and try teach myself.  Most impressed!

Bucket - Yes you can totally count the Faceter's Guild :)

I know we have members in WA and NT as well so please vote even if you do not belong to a lapidary club :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

I come from the Tamworth region, originally a member of the Tamworth lapidary club but no longer, a good member there did teach me to cut my first cab back in 2005, most off the rest off the members would not share there knowledge, as far as carving there is NOTHING they could teach me now, a good club environment can be good if most are willing to share knowledge, I live in jade and rhodonite country, great for my carving, I think there would be thousands off independent lapidary people like me, if AFLACA could get more members like us independent people it may help the organization if they would let us join as independents.

"a good member there did teach me to cut my first cab back in 2005, most off the rest off the members would not share there knowledge"

That's a real shame Mick. Bit hard to see the point of a club if everyone keeps completely to themselves and doesn't share any knowledge.

Hey, what happened to the forum? The bar with all the smilies, links, qoutes, italics and everything else seems to have dissapeared.

Not sure - Jerry reported this to me this morning.  I am actually seeing that bar so did not realise the problem but sounds like a permissions issue (related to user groups).  Will check it out now for you.
