Have a great get together Alfers, do you know if any fossicking trips have been organized at the Gemboree. I hope your getting some fossicking time in too; some petrified fern or sapphires like MB likes to find would be a nice memento of this beautiful part of Australia.  ;D 8) ;)

Cheers
Malachi  ;D

Malachi, yes there is. I know of 4 to different parts of the state. Have a look in the Gemboree booklet here: http://aflaca.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/GEMBOREE-2016-Booklet-v6.pdf
From memory they are going to Penguin (jasper), Calder agate), Beaconsfield area (calcite crystals) and  another to one of the crocoite mines on the west coast.

I think that Jamo and Makkybrown may be doing some further stuff down south.

Last call for numbers for early dinner on Saturday night. So far I have 8.

Spent the day helping to set up the stadium for the weekend. It's a big venue that apparently has been filled so am looking forward to helping the traders when they start arriving tomorrow. Met Dughug while I was there and am looking forward to catching up with others over the weekend.

Jamo, I'll give you a ring on Friday before you dock and give you some directions to meet me.

Don't panic Andrew, yes it does include the 4 of you! Dughug + 1 are still potential but not confirmed, so it's the four of you, Jamo and I and Mehoose + 1 at this stage. Anyone else, please let me ASAP so I can extend the booking.

Wow, thanks for the great news, we both spent many hours on these, great to get some recognition, thanks Bucket for the news, was it the little jade fish or my opal that placed first.
Thanks again mick & margie B

Thanks Jimnyjerry, has been a difficult time with us recently, great to get this good news, I do sell a few carvings and do custom carved pieces for a client and friend in Singapore, would love to one day just carve, but I think it will never happen, lapidary- gem artists never get the same recognition as many other arts.
Cheers mick B

Thanks Malachi, Michael,s carvings were his little Tamworth jade fish and the Coober Pedy white opal carving, I think most have seen these before, my cab is Tamworth imperial rhodonite, will post pic in gallery.

Well done Mick, opal got first, fish got second but very little in points between them, both were less than a point difference. Third place was about 6 point behind second so a great effort! Didn't actually look that close oat the cabs so not sure on that one, but Jamo spent quite a bit of time there and didn't mention anything. He suggested telling you that they'd put the into a different class, but I thought better of that!

Gemboree was great.  Things have gone downhill a bit now off fossicking with Jamo. You've got to watching him or he'll steal you stones.  :o Great weather for fossicking atm.  ;D
