Location of the Month
« on: September 03, 2015, 12:05:29 PM »
Hi ALFers,
Welcome to a new section of the forum ... "Location of the Month".

Just like "Gem of the Month", I'll add some info about a fossicking location each month and then everyone can add their own personal experiences, extra info & pictures etc.

A lot of great info about locations was posted when ALF first started but some of it is now out of date and missing pictures etc so I thought this was a good way to get everything updated.

As with "Gem of the Month", I'll add a poll where you can vote for the location you'd like to be covered next.

I'm going to pick three locations to start with ... one for July, August & September and then I'll pick the following month's location based on the voting.

I hope everyone finds this useful.
Regards, Paul :)

Sounds good, Paul.
Incidentally, Sue and I have just come back from 5 weeks in New Zealand which is why I appear to have vanished. I'll get back to doing more blog material on New England minerals as soon as possible.
Does anyone know why my blog on Elsmore Hill picked up 10 times as many views as any other while we were away?

Could I suggest the Fluorite Mine for this month seeming as we will be visiting it next month? It will give people (myself included) the history behind it & what can be found there. I can update on what was found after we visit it apart from my usual Gemfest "blog" on here.

Would it be helpful if I did my next blog on the fluorite mine?

The thing to consider here is whether we post about locations on private property??
I have generally avoided doing so in the past.

I would say no to posting them unless they are paid digs.

It just takes one person doing the wrong thing to get access closed for everyone.
