Newbie Grampian trip
« on: March 24, 2016, 07:11:46 AM »
Hi everyone, new member here and also new to the hobby...
My partner and I are planning on making a trip over Grampians way for Easter and do a bit of fossicking on our way. I've already read that Mooralla is a good place to look and that you can find Smokey and geodes... My question is, Can anyone recommend any other places that we should check out while we are over that way? I don't want to have to drive all that way for just one location. Thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to ALF thecrocco.

There is not too far away a council quarry at Mt Shadwell for its olivine and facetable peridot. You will need to be there on a Friday and fill out a release form with the council.

If we knew where you were traveling from we could better suggest fossicking spots.

You will also need a Miners Right for Victoria.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.
