Good Thread, most points have been covered.
The need for speed can come at a cost.
lets forget about a difference between #80 and #100 - yes there is one but in reality its so small so forget it as an issue. For the first week you get slightly faster cut ,then spend more time cleaning up in following stages but a #100 will perform so close its not worth getting old over.
Textured hard wheels last longer due to the flushing and cooling - like any Diamond Tool, sweep whatever width across the wheel or lap.
If you are a commercial cutter or club, consider fully Sintered Wheels. A full 5mm of diamond matrix that will last normally for decades and can be redressed to even up wear as necessary.
Many clubs and commercial cutters use these - they cost a lot but over their life span will more than pay for themselves. Still better value than a Genuine Galaxy Electroplated wheel.
Hobby or usual use cutters - just buy normal wheels as they last extremely well and are great value.
If you get into large volume, open the wallet $$ and get consistent preform cutting.
6" sintered wheel is currently about $450 each (depending on exchange rate) compared to a standard hard electroplated wheel at about $115 (bit less if you buy a few).
Cheers
