vibrating plate polishing material

I recently had to replace the material that was used on the polishing plate of my vibrating plate.It looked like carpet so was replaced with another piece.However I am not getting the quality of polish that I was before.Still using Cerium oxide so it's not that.Anyone know what type of carpet or something else that does work.

I have seen used ,the stuff used as 'Removalist Blankets'.. you can get that at Bunnings...

I think those blankets are a type of felt, they should work a treat.
