Hi Makky,

Sounds good.  Skim your mandrels so they are all within say +/- 0.01mm.  It'll make polishing easier.

The concave cut was new last year so we are still building numbers.

I'm currently cutting Lest We Forget at about 18mm side to side.  Started it on Anzac Day.
 Am planning on concave cutting pairs of radiatingfacets.  The concave effect should look like rays of the sun.

Hey Makky, a word of advice,

Don't put anything on the stove while you tinker with your latest project in the garage.

I put some eggs on to boil for lunch then went out to make an anti backlash device with 1mm pitch for my concave cutter mk5, and completely forgot about them.

My wife and daughter arrived home from shopping thinking I was cuttlefish casting.  As I poked my head out of the garage/stufio, I thought the neighbour had  put some plastic in his fireplace again.

Actually it was the egg shaped cooking indicator burning to the bottom of the saucepan.

Today's tinker is to sand the burnt plastic from the base of the saucepan.  Luckily no real damage done.

Reminds me a long time ago of boiling an egg in a small stainless steel birko.
Went outside to the herb garden and when I stepped inside the water was gone and the remains of the birko was trying to zap its way through plastic compound table top.

This is the type of stone dop stop I never needed to make when I put the swivelling concave cutter in the too hard basket.
So I was thinking you might be able to put it to some use Andrew.

Hi Makky,

I made my stop adjusrable with an M6 thread running up its middle.  The moving part slides inside another tube and is clamped in place with a lock screw.  This lets me do fine adjustments to the allignment.

I have since worked out that lateral movement in my mast as I adjust its position affects allignment.  I'll need to push my mast against the back of the slot when I change its position to minimise allignment issues.  Last time I had to adjust the cutter position 0.1mm after moving the mast.
