Good rant Ranger Itchy :) .  Sadly some people stuff up the bush and fossicking areas for everyone else.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

There was an old saying, 'Leave only memories and footprints' well that's gone.

I see the problems only getting worse, because of the way the economy is going, I see the actions of many of these people who break the rules turning to desperation where they will start raping these areas for anything they think they can turn into a dollar. This won't be just public areas, it will extend to private land, fences being cut, livestock roaming free and land owners turning vigilanty.

We only have to look at the special trips during Minearama, access to private land being granted only to have a few returning as nocturnal pillagers, who can blame the land owners for saying NO!

What is worse, in the Emmaville/Torrigton I have been told that some of the pillagers are locals, but nothing happens so the local economy looses tourism $$$s and they wonder why, can't have it both ways.

Heard today that a number of free camp sites in the Clarence River area are being closed due to similar disrespect, your comments Ranger Itchy are spot on!

Don't know where this will end up, but those doing the right thing are lost!

I haven't fossicked around Stannifer since the 2011 Brisbane floods when we stayed extra days while roads in the region dried out. I have fond memories of the great jelly beans to be found there (and never sold any of them). I was happy to put money back into the small Tingha community (caravan park, service station, take away store, etc).

It was always near top of my list to get back there but will forgo that with the increasing restrictions  :'(

Well I 'heard' some bad/sad news today.... Looks like Torrington is going to be closed to Fossickers...... NPWS are going to ban Fossicking in their section of Torrington... And with Pacific Copper being Private Property, there's not much left that is accessible... Recent fires have also played a big part and its still a mess and no sign of a clean-up happening anytime soon.....

would you all keep in mind that National Parks (NSW) have employees who are members of this site. They may approach you in an attempt to compromise you and enable a prosecution. "People"  on this site use made up names. be careful what you say, what you do and with whom. the only "person" you should acknowledge is someone you have met in the flesh, can verify their existence, can establish their credentials, and maybe by meeting them, gain some idea of whether they are trustworthy or not. otherwise they are nothing but dots in cyber space, blots on a digital landscape

Are You saying they have 'Spies' among Us... :o

Good I hope they read this then......  :)

"Start looking after the places that you have been given to look after..... Get your fat bums off your Plush Chairs and start getting out there and start fining these a-holes who are killing our Hobby and STOP the illegal activities in OUR Parks..."

Its pretty easy to 'Catch' them you know, but you actually need to be there to catch them...

Will that help...? :P

I wouldn't mind at all if NPWS wanted to have a 'chat'. I actually have close to 1000 questions for them.. ;)

Yes MrSydney Its very REAL....

There are several names I would love to post on WHO is responsible for forcing this closure, but as Charges are pending and Warrants Outstanding, I think that may compromise their Investigations....  :-X

Charles, what you say is more than likely true, I have an interest in cars and was a member of many sports car forums. A couple of member thought I was spying on behalf of my employer, Tasmania Police, but I just had an interest in the cars, I did finally convince some that I was there to talk and learn, not spy. I would suggest that there could be members of NPWS that are on this forum, I'd like to think that they're not wasting taxpayers money by listening into conversations that are by hobbyists, they may be here to do as I did, learn and talk rocks.
Common sense isn't exactly common

I know what is happening is real - in some ways I'm not surprised, just sad!  :'(

I think it is good they are on the forums.  They will see most of us are strong supporters of catching this trash and really do want to do the right thing, love the bush, and are respectful of it.  And if they catch someone who DID do the wrong thing off this site then I'm damn glad they did too!

Way overdue for a catch up Gemster - have virtually had no fossicking last 18 months but things finally clicking in to place so should get to do a few more trips next year, and even more from then on.  Hope you are well!

Yes I agree MrSydney, One of my Q's to them would be, 'Why are those who constantly do the right thing being penalised...

Time for Fossicking Licences to be re-instated with big fines attached for those who choose to conduct their activities Illegally...

It has been too long between Drinks  :P,
Im well but just as stressed as You with No Fossicking for a very long time... ;D
Next Year will be the 'Year of Fossicking"...  ;D

Have you changed Your Email?  PM me your New one... beers
