ALF running on new host :)
« on: March 04, 2021, 07:23:32 PM »
The website looks to have transferred over perfectly onto the new host. I can't see any faults atm.  I would like to say a big thank you to RoughCreations and Leah(Aussie Sapphire) for all their assistance to save ALF. Without them it wouldn't have happened. I'll be making a few changes over coming weeks, the Sponsor block will be replaced with a Donations block. I have paid for hosting for the next three years and once the Donation block is made I am going to link it to a paypal account and hopefully if everyone throws is a small amount it will cover yearly domain registration cost and the hosting cost when it comes due again. The new hosting is largely unlimited so I have added some images as it is nice to see recent and random images without having to check the gallery.I am going to look at new themes and work to make the site mobile friendly. Everyone, don't be shy to give feedback regarding any changes we make.It has been a very busy few days and a massive learning curve for me.

More than happy to chip in and be an active part of the forum. Seemed to have lost the plot with the PM's today.

My sentiments too. This is the third incarnation of ALF that I can remember.

Thanks Leah, I am not seeing any errors or things out of place.
Even got the SSL certificate that came with the new host working.
Still need to do updates but will do those on a test site first

I don't know... you disappear for awhile and look what happens!!!

Massive thanks to Andrew and Leah for providing the venue for ALF in the past...many many years of fond memories and discoveries. Massive thanks to Makky, Rough creations and Leah for saving irreplaceable info, memories and the only means for some to have an active voice. Yup, FB etc still banned in the household... there must be others like me.

Thank goodness I looked in my spam folder, even though it said there was nothing in there! Insert a scream here..how many other things have I missed?!?!

I know I've said in the past I want to get back into things..well as it so happens, I did spend the day this past week, pulling out boxes, looking at the rough and wetting a few and holding facet rough up to the light. I've missed my rocks, still don't have a cabber but I do have the facet machine. I need to put down the two sticks and pick up the dop sticks.... I'll be wearing L plates again but hey.. that just means everything will be like the first time again. :)))

Keep em comin!!!

Be good to have you back on here mehoose :) and when you come down south next let me know and drop in. I've got a book sitting here for you and we can talk cabbing machines, I've just refurbish my cabbing machine and saw.We have also been having a bit of clean out,  amazing how the rocks pile up over the years. Rock garden is getting pretty massive.
Thinking I might start some cabbing competitions on here, I've certainly got enough material from prizes.
CheersMB
