Facetron used to sell a saw adaptor for their faceting machines.  Was just two finely machines plates to hold a saw blade between and secured by the lap nut.  Worked well for certain types of trimming but were expensive for what they were (just two flat discs).

Would be a reasonably easy DIY job I think.

Anyone interested in making some plates, I have a set of the Facetron ones, i can measure them up and you could take those measurements to a metal fabricator  and have them made quite easiely.

Cool, thanks for that. Pretty much what I was thinking of doing. How high does it lift the blade off the platten?
I'm going to have to have my first go at thread cutting, left hand 20 teeth per inch on 1/4 brass. As I couldn't find bolts for sale. Shouldn't be too hard to cut.

I' think I might just make RC's similar to mine but keep the blade as low as possible so it is well under the splash guard height.But still interested in the measurements when you get home Bucket.

I have to join the club again(planning to) Bucket, I was thinking of getting a table but apparently they sold out fast. My membership lapsed awhile ago as using the club equipment kind of frustrates me. I still drop by for chats and some show and tell.
RC will have more of an idea of what is happening. I am not sure how much time I'll have but will figure it out closer to the date.IF anyone on here is going let me know, I could do a fossicking trip to Lune River.

Hi Makky

Joe Pieczynski has some precision machining videos with a reverse method of thread cutting that is really good for threads next to a shoulder.  The tool starts right next to the shoulder and runs off the job.  The cutter is mounted upside down.

All good flash, I have cut a couple of spares and I'll be removing the imperial gears from my lathe as they are noise compare to the metric ones that it came with in it. I just used start stop and watched it closely. Forward away from the chuck to cut and reverse to wind it back and cut a bit deeper each time. Threads are not perfect and I could have used a different cutter but they will do for a knob on my faceting machine
