Here is my effort. 15mm clearance, made from scrap from plastic/aluminum I had laying around.
Still need to make the left hand bolt.

I can't post pictures of the Facetron saw set up as I'm now away from home for a couple of months, but it's basically two circular plates of alloy (very light) around 8-10 mm thick with the usual hole in centre. They are around 20mm in diameter smaller than a 6 inch saw blade, giving a cut depth of around 10mm. One goes on the shaft, then the blade, then the other plate. They are held on by the normal rubber covered screw that holds the laps on and they give support to the blade. I usually have the speed turned up all the way with plenty of water. I've used it with the stone being cut held by a dop stick (the easy way) and also hand held which is a bit trickier but so long as you have a firm grip it'll work.
Common sense isn't exactly common

Really looking forward to setting something like this up on my Facetron eventually too, being able to cut off excess material parallel to facets with dopped stones is very attractive to me.
Large quartz stones quickly wear out my coarse laps, and my patience.

I think I can make you one for your facetron fairly easily RC just need to see how the nut holds the lap on again as i think it is a bit different to the gemmasta. Do you need a 1/2inch hole though it all ?

This is the Facetron setup. Yes, 1/2" hole in the middle. The platten is 75mm diameter.

What thickness could it hold with the existing nut and no spacer ?

Yes, seems to be. It's not 6mm, and what I think is a 1/4" nut in my odds and ends fits on fine ( I have no thread gauge)

Here is yours RC, including a stuff up. I had to put a bush in the top hole.
It is 20.5mm total height. Try it, if too high not hard to remove a bit more.
Hopefully you can use you existing bolt and not need a new one.

There you go, there's a couple of jobs you can cross off your list, good work.

Thanks heaps for that, can't wait to try it out!
What are the specs and source of a suitable diamond saw blade to fit?
