Fossicking at Grenfell NSW

Hi everyone, has anyone ever fossicked around Grenfell (near Young) and if so, are there any decent spots to go.
I hear there are State Forests nearby?

Not sure about Gems, but Grenfell and the surrounding towns like Young are famous for Gold, look up Lambing Flats Gold Fields, plenty of interesting reading associated with the old times. Grenfell area is known for historic Bush Ranger haunts in the hills, places like Ben Hall's cave, but it's Nat park so no swinging.

Thanks for the heads up Dihusky, just got back, you were right, not much in the way of fossicking but the historic stuff was much appreciated by my wife. Very sad, my first time fossicking since my shoulder operation about 4 yrs ago. Managed a few specimens, but that's it, have a few more trips planned so fingers crossed.
