LED Ring Light
« on: April 23, 2021, 08:46:41 PM »
Hey look what I bought for AUD $10 at KMart today!

It is LED, 6", has 3 light modes - warm, white and natural. Has a neat little tripod and a control to control the light mode and intensity.
You can photograph gems through the ring, works well so far.
There was a deluxe larger model for $20 there too.
Oh, and I can take wonderful selfies too, lol.

Great value for money with that light.
I bought a flexible desk lamp to use with my digital scope on my faceting machine from eBay. Looked really good and the other items in the picture gives you an ideal of its size. Note the cup with a spoon in it.

This is the actual lamp. I should have realised there was something not right, as it was only $14.98 with free postage.

I use an IKEA version of that lamp for checking the polish on my work.

I can't believe how big the light looked compared to that black mug in the marketing picture, sort of like a big Cobra about to strike, and they send you a little caterpillar instead, sigh.

Frank, they've actually not sent the one in the original picture. The original has a curved clamp handle at the back, the one they sent is straight.
Keep em comin!!!

If you bought your light from a reputable company it would seem reasonable to me to call them about a return and refund.

I bought it through eBay which have a money back guarantee if I'm not satisfied with the goods and I can return it. Postage paid by me, they also have a complaints section built into their system where I can report the product. At less than $15 for the lamp I couldn't be bothered with either.
I've bought quite a bit of stuff through eBay and only had two rip offs like this one.

Finally found a use for my mini lamp, worked well in cutting the sloping girdle of “Lily”. This is the first time I’ve ever shone a light upwards on a facet. This is at the polish stage and the facet to be polished can be clearly seen on the screen. Will be posting more about this light on my scope thread.
