My ancient Australian and New Zealand Gemstones and Where To Find Them manual says:
Quote
Cowell: feldspar, hematite, malachite and common opal on the east coast of Eyre Peninsula. The area produces attractive serpentinised marbles and dolomites and also tiger-eye of moderate quality. Orthoclase feldspar of the Moonstone variety occurs widely in the Cowell-Cleve area with bright green amazonstone at Koppio, 20 miles WSW of Tumby Bay.

Mount Gambier: Olivine crystals occur in the volcanic bombs to be found on the slopes of Blue Lake extinct volcano, but not gem quality really.
