Gold and gems

Hi everyone
I'm into gems and my fossicking mate is into gold.
Does anyone know where one would go to find both. We're both from the South Coast of NSW but we don't mind travelling.

Dom, I live on the South Coast as well Merimbula, there are a few good spots out of town, you'll find Thunder Eggs at Nethercotte, Ukanite in Six Mile Creek near Wyndham and there an old quarry of Yowaka River Road, south of the Yowaka River, I've found Jasper, Chalcodoney, Thunder Eggs and various other stones, there are also Amethyst on Nuns Beach in Eden.  Just message me if you want exact locations and I will try not to lead you astray.   There is  also Orthoclase, Petrified Wood, Jasper, Calcite and other lovelies in the Towamba River out Burragate way.

Hi Tinker
That would be great. I noticed you didn't mention gold, my mate will be sad. He normally goes to Western Australia every year and spends months over there, I'm trying to find somewhere closer to home for him. What about Oallen Ford?

Yes Dom, I have a couple of mates that go the Ulan Ford panning for Gold and always come back with some gold, I don't know about gems up that way though.  There's petrified wood at Araluen, have a mate that works on the Council up there and told me that the had dug up a fair bit of petrified wood with the grader when the were putting a cutting in east of the village, apart from that I haven't been up that way so not sure what gemstones you would find.
