Travelling to SW Queensland

Hi, I'm about to head off to SW Queensland for around six weeks on Thursday 25th, travelling to Lightning Ridge first to visit a mates mine and then onto Cunnumulla, Thargominda, Euramanga, Quilpie and Charlieville.  Any hints on where I go do some fossicking in these locations, I know there's ribbon stone at Cunnumulla and possibly boulder opal around Quilpie but thats about it.  Also do you need a Fossicking Permit in Queensland.  Any advise appreciated.

Yes you do need a permit, can be done online.

Tell me about this ribbonstone at Cunnamulla and I will tell you about the best pies in Australia at the Cunnamulla bakery.

Plenty of good Petrified wood around Roma and that area, just stop on any gravel side road and pick it up. Have a look at the Museum in Roma they have a fantastic collection of Lapidary work, polished petrified wood, spheres etc , it's well worth a look.

It sounds like a great trip.
