Apex Indexer
« on: March 13, 2024, 07:12:53 PM »
I came across this recently: Apex Indexer kit
Does anyone know what an Apex Indexer is and how it is used with the Facetron, or any other machine that may use one?

Found a supplier, picture and price ($45US), but don't know how it is used.

Thanks, that was the url I meant to post above, didn't work - fixed now. A Facetron shop seems to be open with lots of things for sale.

They are attempting to revive the Facetron and also the Facette brands for parts, service and new machines.
New machines have very expensive prices if you try to land them in Oz though.
Parts prices appear more reasonable.

I have an old scan of the apex indexer instructions from way back when we were dealers for facetron.

Uploaded it to the Gallery or I can email you the scan if you want.

Thanks Leah, fantastic information,
I am re-reading it over and over to try and fully understand the idea, I get most of it now. Will have to see if I can fully comprehend it to work out if an Apex Indexer is something I have needed for years, without knowing, lol.

Do I get the impression that it would most useful if I was used to cutting the Table before the rest of the Crown tiers?
Be easier to bring in Apex table meets.
Just an interpretation idea.

Yes, that seems a better idea otherwise you would wreck the previous tier I would have thought.

Below is my artist's impression of the indexer mounted on top of the Facetron table adapter as a reference. The top of the dop is visible in the centre of the indexer. I reckon you would need two opposed grub screws to allow the full rotation and locking of 360 degrees by 45 degree increments.
There seems to be 8 'indexes' or scribed lines I have highlighted in the picture that you can make use of.
