Facet Master by R&S Deem info

Hey guys
 Very new to faceting and have a question about an old machine.
Have found a Facet Master by R & S Deem. Does anyone have any information about the machine. Don’t know how to put a pic up yet.

Is it an old machine made in India, I could find no info online?

RC... recent discussions on lighting and now looking no luck finding them - my current best method is to raise the quill straight up to a common shop dual tube fluorescent directly above or a pair of benched desk lights. Is there a 'best of' choice by facetors for lighting?

Answering your question about the lamps on my faceting machine you posted on my picture Alaskan. I got them off eBay, a “USB clip on desk lamp” search will bring up a heap of different lamps. My guess is the long strip lights won’t suit this application, but the round spot type lamps are perfect. The average price would be around $20. I’ve since changed the round plastic tube they clip on with 20x30 dressed pine, the round pipe didn’t work very well because the clamp would turn round it.

Thank you Frank.This may sound unusual but how do you use the light when looking at the stone - rotating the quill in the verticals but where do you place the light when it is fixed?

If your cutting a facet and looking at the meet points coming together you don’t want to unindex and rotate the stone while doing that. What you want is to move the light to get the light, facet, eye angle right. Never really analysed the distances of lights, facets etc before, so Just looked at my setup now. When looking at the facet through the loupe the quill is vertical, the stone is about level with my chin and the left light is 50mm from the stone. The light is above and to the left of the stone and I can tilt the quill to get the light to reflect off the facet, no need to unindex it. After polishing I unindex and check the facets, this is the only time the right light comes in handy, because I will get a reflection from both sides as I turn the stone.

Thank you Frank, yes - this is what I have been looking for - I keep trying different angles and with this piece of glassy pale blue created zircon it's a constant search for the right lighting condition. Vertical and light from above the pavilion is about as good as it gets but how to get a better fixture to bring light from a better angle to the cutlet or table is what now seems my dilemma. The simple shop twin tube fluorescent is the best so far. Excellent reply, appreciate it.  Thanks again for the image of your setup and the eBay long neck fixtures - my next action item. 👍 perfect!
