Hi Guys,


I'm heading up to Castlemaine this morning for a bit of a fossick, looking for crystals not gold.
Can anybody give me direction of where to find dry creek beds with gravel that I can scratch through?

Head out towards Chewton you should do OK,
Actually you will probably come in through Chewton from the freeway, so just have a poke around there. Have a look up Golden Point Rd. From there you could go down to Fryerstown for a bit of a side trip. You can get Graptolites in the Shale in one of the cuttings out near the old Wattle Gully mine, not sure of exactly where.

To add, If you have a bit of time, from Fryerstown head to Vaughan. From Vaughan you can get back on the road between Castlemaine and Daylesford and you are only 10 minutes out of Castlemaine via Campbells Creek. Have fun It's a great place to have a look around.
