Nah, you can take your own to Gem Tree and everyone seemeed to be sipping their wine or beer at the end of each day. Beer and other alcohol prices are understandably higher than the norm at GT.  beers

The food prices are very high and the range is limited so pack everything you think you might need.

Second that take your own drinks, no problems. And any fresh vegies in particular. To quote a fellow camper's observation "the shop sells everything you don't want and has nuthing yu do want"

For where it is ... the shop was ok.

You could get bread (frozen), milk, softdrinks, meat packs (sausages, chops, mince), flour, noodles and various canned food (eg. spam, spaghetti). I ran low on meat by day six of my trip and bought some chops and sausages for $10.

I also shouted myself hot chips and a coke a couple of times ... very yummy after hard digging.  :D

And there's no mobile reception so buy a phone card if you need to talk with the outside world (there's a phone box but it only takes a phone card).

When I arrived at GT, I bought their last phone card in stock. Not sure how often they restock from Alice Springs or have deliveries.
